A Hitchhiker’s Guide
to Planet X / Nibiru

In his article “Did Planet X Kill The Dinosaurs?” Marshall Masters examined the possibility that an XBKO flyby may have triggered a terrestrial catastrophe and caused the extinction of the dinosaurs 65 million years ago.  Then Steve Russell and Jacco van der Worp pointed to current day astronomical observations that suggest another XKBO is headed towards Earth at this very moment, in their article “Is a Killer XKBO Stalking The Earth?”  And then of course there is Nibiru, Zecharia Sitchin and the Sumerians.  Confused yet?

If you are just getting interested in this whole topic but your head is beginning to swim, take heart.  When you are finished reading this article, you’ll know enough to hold your own at the neighborhood pub, or you may just be intrigued enough to delve deeper into this fascinating subject.  Either way, A Hitchhiker’s Guide to Nibiru will get you there.  

Is Planet X / Nibiru Science Fiction or Science Fact? 

This journey begins in 1950, before our present day understanding of Nibiru, with Immanuel Velikovsky who published a highly controversial book titled, Worlds in Collision, and who happened to correspond on a regular basis with Albert Einstein.     

According to Velikovsky, a large comet flew past the earth some 3,500 years ago, and then again 700 years later.  The comet flyby caused great cataclysms on the earth, before the comet eventually became the planet Venus.   

At the time American scientists scorned his work, because it challenged their Newtonian (things just don’t change) view of the universe.  The most notable critic was the famous American astronomer Carl Sagan.    

Yet, despite Sagan’s mean-spirited attacks on Velikovsky, his work still endures to this day, in much the same way the Nikola Tesla has became a cult hero despite decades of well-funded and equally vicious attacks on his character and his contributions by Thomas Edison.   

Oddly enough, no matter how much respected men like Sagan and Edison tried to besmirch the reputations and works of Velikovsky and Tesla, they failed.  Partly because Velikovsky and Tesla were genuine in the love for mankind, and also in part because their ideas continue to resonate with us to this very day.   

 In the present time, a brilliant scholar by the name of Zecharia Sitchin is also showing his love for mankind, with theories based on his study of the Sumerian civilization.   

But most importantly, they left us a clear warning of a planet called Nibiru (Also known as Planet X) that could fly past the inner planets of our solar system in the coming years, and bring horrific death and destruction to our planet as it has done before.  

Could Velikovsky have mistaken his large comet for Planet X?  Is Nibiru really Planet X or is it something else?  These questions point to one simple problem – deriving a modern day context from ancient manuscripts.   

When you combine this language difficulty with the Newtonian prejudice of present day scientists, it is no wonder that the theories of Velikovsky and Sitchin have been gruffly discounted as science fiction.  After all, how could something as large as a planet or a moon be orbiting our solar system in the primitive icy debris beyond the orbit of Pluto? Harrumph.  Balderdash.  Pure nonsense.  Right?  Wrong.  

Our Newtonian view of the solar system shared by our present day scientists got tossed on its head in the summer of 2001.

Large Object Discovered Orbiting Sun 

The discovery of a large reddish chunk of something orbiting in Pluto's neighborhood has re-ignited the idea that there may be more than nine planets in the solar system. 

What the discoverers are calling 2001 KX76 might be one of the largest "Kuiper Belt Objects" or KBO's, found in what is essentially a second asteroid belt beyond the orbit of Neptune. Initial reports give 2001 KX76 a diameter of 900 to 1200 kilometers — roughly the size of Pluto's moon, Charon. Pluto itself, it should be noted, is smaller than our own moon. 

Because KBOs are believed to have very elongated orbits around the sun they spend a lot of time on dark, centuries-long excursions into deep space. That makes them very hard to find, said astronomer Robert Millis, director of the Lowell Observatory, which was involved in the discovery. 

If 2001 KX76 is any indication of larger KBOs out there, it might also lead to the demotion of Pluto from puniest planet to king of KBOs, said Marsden. 

Millis prefers a third alternative: "There may exist a new class of planets."

The discovery of 2001 KX76 is significant because it conclusively proves that large objects, such as those mentioned in the works of Velikovsky and Sitchin can exist in the outermost reaches of our system, in what we call the Kupier Belt, which is also referred to as the Inner Oort Cloud.  

Using this significant discovery as a basis in modern observable fact as opposed to translations of ancient manuscripts and objects, Marshall Masters of YOWUSA first coined the generic term, XKBO in his article, “Did Planet X Kill The Dinosaurs?” 

The definition is based on science fact – the discovery of 2001 KX76, which is a Kuiper Belt Object. Hence the term Planet X-class Kupier Belt Object (XKBO) is combination of science fact (2001 KX76) and the ancient writings that warn of us of a large object such as Planet X, that could be headed our way again.   

Call it Nibiru, Planet X or whatever; the fact is that the discovery of 2001 KX76 tells us that it will come at us from the Kuiper Belt. Therefore, by definition, an XKBO is a Kuiper Belt Object in a long period orbit around our sun, with sufficient mass to trigger life-threatening global Earth changes as the result of a flyby event.   

Ergo, the term is XKBO is simple way to generally classify the objects discussed by scholars like Velikovsky, Sitchin, and many others.  It also stresses the shift from science fiction to science fact.  

So when your friends at the Dew Drop Inn say that a Planet X, or a Nibiru, or whatever you want to call it could never exist, ask them if they’ve heard about 2001 KX76.  But before you do that, make them bet on the next round and before the sour on the conversation, here is where you can wax poetic about Sitchin, the Sumerians and Nibiru.  

Sitchin, the Sumerians and Nibiru 

Thanks to the brilliant work of Zecharia Sitchin, the human race is finally warming to the idea about the possible existence of another planet, an XKBO that periodically visits our immediate solar system.  A planet, which has been know and cataloged by the Sumerians. 

The Sumerian civilization was well-organized by 3000 B.C. and lived in Mesopotamia with the Semites, who were originally believed to be descended from Shem, son of Noah (and who are presently embroiled in the Middle East conflict.) 

The Sumerians had a well-organized society, built irrigations systems, were very skilled in the use of metals such as copper, gold, and silver and were talented artisans. 

The Sumerians were well aware of all the planets in our solar system, including planet "X" or Nibiru and the ones, which were only recently discovered by us. It was with a system of deduction as well as better optics that we have found Uranus in 1781, Neptune in 1846, and Pluto in 1930. Facts are that the Sumerians described them in their records. They certainly did not see them; neither did they have the sophisticated instruments to look for them. One of the ancient artifacts backing this information is a 4500 year old Akkadian cylinder seal in the State Museum in East Berlin, catalogued VA/243.

It depicts the size of earth as five magnitudes, along with the position of this planet in our solar system and all known planets around the sun.

The Sumerians themselves do not take the credit for their knowledge.  Instead, they claim to have received their knowledge from “Those who from heaven to Earth came”.

In other words the information had to come from someone who actually traveled through space. By some authors referred to as "The Ancient Astronauts"

A few years back, a ten-page article appeared in “Astronomy” magazine (Oct.88) detailing the considerable evidence of the existence of Planet X.  It was deducted, by various astronomers within and outside NASA, from the telltale effects on the paths of the orbits of known outer planets, Neptune and Uranus that it does exist.

It is, however, difficult to locate because of an extremely elliptical, comet-like orbital path, which takes it close to the inner solar system, which they estimate to be completed every 1000 years to 3600 years. 

The latter figure (believed to be closer to the truth), was estimated by ancient Sumerians. According to Sumerian records this planet travels on a retrograde path, which is opposed to the movement of our known planets. It further behaves more like a comet than a planet, as its path takes it out in to the far fringes of our solar system. From apogee to apogee according to Sumerian records it takes 3600 years. Perhaps you may see some connection between 360 degrees, 12 month, 12 signs of the Zodiac, which by the way predates the Sumerians and many more connections.

We elevate numbers by 10 or divide them by 10. The Sumerians instead used the mind-blowing method of 60, in order to complete precise calculations of astronomical measurements. The Sumerians knew very well about the deluge, which they placed within the Zodiac sign of Leo. It appears that we are now within the sign of Aquarius. If you go from the sign of Leo to the sign of Aquarius, each taking approx. 2160 years, it places the deluge, a well known historical marker approximately 13000 years ago or less. It is a kind of interesting to note that not too long ago a short article was published in one of the Chicago papers which indicated that scientists placed the deluge approximately about 12000 years ago. What a strange coincidence! The Sumerians knew, it just took us a while to figure it out.

Not only were the Sumerians aware of all the important planets in our solar system, but they also knew about the precession of our earth axis. Something, which is common to any spinning gyro, which is, that the axis describes a circle, which will point to the same star system approximately every 26000 years. It also will move from one so-called house of the Zodiac to another within 2160 years approximately. No Sumerian lived long enough to either verify or experience this, neither were they in possession of computers to set up or model such repetitive events.

It is strange when it comes to ancient history that we believe it up to a point. However when ancient records describe the creation of humans, as we know them today and their interaction with what they considered at the time to be their gods, all of a sudden, it is considered to be myth, fables, imaginations, and hallucinations. At times holy spirits and angels are mixed in to the fray for good measures. However, these so called "GODS," plural, did exist, created mankind, as we know them today, in more or less a parallel development as to what was in existence on earth at that time. In other words and in more simplistic terms, they updated a product, which was already present. Then for some time they interacted with them and also were instrumental in their progress and development. Had the Anunaki refrained from interfering with the human race, we may not be where we are right now. We may eventually have gotten there but it might have taken many more thousands of years.
